Attala County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The historian of the American Civil War, John D. Winters, was born in Attala County in 1917. Myrtis Methvin, mayor of Castor in Bienville Parish, Louisiana, from 1933 to 1945, and the second woman mayor in Louisiana, was born in Attala County in 1895. ==Geography== According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of , of which is land and (0.2%) is water.
